Wednesday night service. Start time 6pm as stated on website. Arrived 5:45pm, walked in and sat down 3rd row up on right side. A few minutes later got up to go to the restroom and went back in to sit down. Service didnt start until 6:08 pm. Left 6:36pm.
Not one person greeted me or broke from their conversation to even give a nod to indicate they noticed me. As I sat there I made eye contact with a number of people but no response. No one cared.Added June 30, 2017 by John Pesce - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Mr. Pesce's review is unfair. I have visited Oasis church multiple times, and strongly disagree with his review. Every church, just like every individual, has its unique personality and culture. While there are some very warm, welcoming people at Oasis, as well as those at opposite end of the spectrum, the experience as a whole is ideal for many. It depends on what you deem important. If you are a person who is very sensitive and who needs a great deal of attention to be paid to you, sure, you will not feel satisfied there if you don't take the initiative to be friendly and introduce yourself. Merely making eye contact with people does not let them know if you desire to be approached or not. I understand that some people want to feel very, very welcome. I get it. The majority of my church experience included Believers who embrace and actually touch people. However, many people do not want to be overwhelmed with attention, questions, and the "Are you coming back?!" pressures from ministries aiming to grow their congregation. The pastor of Oasis is, in fact, very warm and approachable (which is a RARE quality in leadership), but his primary aim seems to be teaching the Word, accurately, and challenging Believers to grow-- whether they plant themselves at Oasis or not. With the exception of a very few, this is not a cold, "uncaring" environment. Those looking to sit under authentic teaching of a pastor who is not self-righteous, but transparent, relate-able, and encouraging, should visit Oasis a few times and draw your own conclusions.
